Era visível a incredulidade nos rostos dos jurados e da plateia do programa Britain’s Got Talent (um misto de Show de Calouros com American Idol) quando Susan Boyles, uma senhora britânica de 47 anos, subiu ao palco para cantar “I Dreamed a Dream”, do musical Os Miseráveis.
Pouco antes de exibir sua performance, o programa mostrou uma breve entrevista na qual Susan revelou que vivia sozinha com Pebbles, seu gato de 10 anos de idade. Mais: nunca havia se casado e, pior, nunca havia sido beijada na vida. Sua aparência física certamente não se assemelha ao visual habitual dos popstars, e o seu jeito simples e levemente atrapalhado fez com que júri e audiência aguardassem por um momento supremo de vergonha alheia.
Pois foi com expectativas abaixo de zero que todos se surpreenderam ao ouvir aquela senhora simpática mostrar a sua voz. O resultado?! Assista ao vídeo:
A performance de Susan Boyle foi simplesmente arrebatadora, arrancando lágrimas emocionadas, aplausos entusiasmados e, ao final, os risos com a “dancinha da vitória” quando aquela solteirona desacreditada foi merecidamente aclamada pelos jurados Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden e Piers Morgan.
